Rotation

Rotational movement pattern, transverse plane, or also known as twisting motion. In day-to-day normal activities, rotations are essentially part of every movement we do, picking something up, running, walking, carrying. Rotational movements can be performed in two types of ways, rotational and anti-rotational. Whereas the first movements mostly consist of basic twists while the second variation is where we are resisting ourselves from rotating from an external force. Rotational movements stabilize both the upper and lower body and work muscles ranging from the back, hips, and core to glutes and ankles.

A strong midline is essential in performance sports and for overall strength. Working rotational and anti-rotational movements improves posture and may also help reduce back pain. Could also work as protective strength when needing to perform powerful movements.

Variations

Variations on the kPulley include either cross-sectional or rotational movements such as a Russian twist, meaning that you are moving the force side-to-side to increase the adaptation of resistance in daily or sports-specific movements. The oblique rotations could also be aimed at more isolated movement doing a straight arm stationary rotation similar to the standing wood chop or seated crunch.

On the kBox, working in the rotation movement pattern engages and builds muscles for basically every, power and functional movement. The wide loading spectrum and variable resistance make rotational strength training exercises ideal with a flywheel device where the user sets and determines the load.

Movements include (but are not limited to):

Rotational Movements:

Rotational sling Rotation

Wrestling Rotation

Standing Wood Chop

Anti-rotational Movements:

Standing Core Twist
