In this blog, Fredrik Correa, CEO of Exxentric, shares the exciting journey behind the creation of the biggest, strongest, and most versatile flywheel device ever. From its inception to its remarkable features, explore how the kBox Rack is set to revolutionize strength training for elite athletes and beyond.
Exploring the Genesis of the Project: From Idea To Product
Our internal project codename was “Monster kBox,” and as you read further, you’ll see why. Today, we proudly unveil the kBox Rack: the biggest, strongest, and most formidable flywheel device ever created, developed in collaboration with our partners at Sorinex.
While we’ve collaborated with other companies in the past, including Sorinex, those projects mainly focused on adapting our or our partners’ products to fit together. However, this marks the first time we’ve embarked on a complete R&D endeavor together, crafting a brand-new product bearing both our names and expertise.
Flywheels and Weights: A New Era of Collaboration
It’s been an incredibly enjoyable project, and I’m thrilled with the outcome. I hope it serves as a testament to all strength enthusiasts out there that traditional weights and flywheel technology can harmoniously coexist in a gym environment—and they should.
If two longstanding manufacturers from different realms can unite and merge their technologies, then the community should be inspired to do the same, leveraging the best of both worlds to advance their training methodologies.
Our mission and commitment, as you know by now, helping everyone to achieve their desired level of strength, catering to a diverse range of users: from home fitness enthusiasts and patients to active duty personnel, and of course, our core clientele—the athletes.
Empowering Elite Athletes and Beyond
This product is specifically tailored for elite athletes—those who are big, strong, and relentless in their pursuit of excellence. Together with Sorinex, we’ve engineered the largest, sturdiest, and perhaps most versatile flywheel device ever conceived. The kBox Rack will facilitate:
- Different overload modalities
- Supported exercises (balance, single leg, push-off, braking exercises)
- Mainly lower-body focused (squats, RDLs, deadlifts, kBox swings, split squats)
- Explosive focused exercises
- Metabolic training
- Power testing
kBox Rack: A New Rehab Tool In Physiotherapy
Beyond catering to elite athletes, we envision this device as an invaluable tool in rehabilitation settings, offering ample space and support for users during training sessions. Moreover, with the ability to track progress, it’s ideal for seniors or patients striving to enhance their strength levels, thereby improving their quality of life or expediting their return to normal activity.
Innovative Features of The kBox Rack
To accomplish this feat, we developed an entirely new “flywheel engine,” comprising a cluster with enhanced robustness and three sets of ball bearings, capable of bearing tremendous loads while ensuring maximum durability.
Furthermore, we’ve incorporated a thicker type of drive belt to enhance longevity and withstand high-intensity training volumes. This cluster is then affixed to a larger platform measuring 1040 x 635 mm (41″ x 25″), offering 33% more surface area than a standard kBox Pro.
Additionally, all kBox Racks come equipped with the kMeter pre-installed, ready to provide performance feedback through our free Exxentric App available on both AppStore and PlayStore.
Drawing from Sorinex’s rich legacy as a premier rack manufacturer, the legs of the kBox Rack double as uprights, encapsulating this formidable device while providing the desired aesthetic and functionality. With 3×3″ beams, users can utilize the various attachment points to enhance their training regimen and introduce new variations—perhaps even incorporating a few kPulley Go devices to create flywheel stations within their gym.
