TAX UPDATE FOR UK CUSTOMERS

New Purchasing Laws for UK Customers

Since Brexit, the UK has new purchasing laws for items purchased outside of the UK. Between the UK and certain EU regions, there is a Free Trade Agreement that cancels the 2.8% Import Duties (Customs Fees) for items manufactured in the EU. Luckily, Sweden is part of the Free Trade Agreement.

In the case of Exxentric UK orders, the UK VAT is payable to the freight forwarders separately which is currently a charge of 20% on the goods being delivered. Find out more about ordering from outside the EU by viewing our general taxation information on local taxes.

How Does This Affect Your Purchase?

These changes in VAT payment modalities now positively affect your Exxentric purchases. Any orders that Exxentric receives from the UK are now treated as an Export customer (excl. VAT & Duties) due to the UK no longer being a part of the EU.

Prior to Brexit, any UK orders to Exxentric would have already included Swedish VAT of 25% in the total amount. Since Brexit, UK customers now pay 20% UK VAT instead of the higher Swedish VAT, meaning UK customers actually pay less tax this way. Purchasing from Sweden is charged the same as purchasing goods locally in the UK.

VAT Payable Upon Delivery

The only real difference in your order processing is that the VAT amount is now payable directly to the UK when the package arrives at the border, instead of the VAT being charged and processed by Exxentric in Sweden at the time of purchase. Your order is therefore made up of 2 separate payments, the 1st payment being the Exxentric order (excl. VAT) and the 2nd payment being the VAT charge in the UK.
