Push

The push movement pattern requires you to move a load or object away from you in some capacity. Either by pushing yourself up from the ground or against a load or object over your head. Push movements can be performed both – similar to Pull movements – in a vertical or horizontal direction. Depending on the movement, you also work different muscles and muscle groups.

Including anterior upper body exercises in your daily routine has a lot of benefits as it engages large muscle groups such as the pectoralis, deltoids, triceps/biceps. With the variable resistance and eccentric overload, you will definitely feel the load from the flywheel resistance. The kBox, kPulley, and LegExx also offer the benefits of performing several lower body exercises in the push movement pattern, ranging from more compound exercises to isolated variations.

Variations

Using the kBox and kPulley, press variations can be performed in several ways where the upper body extension allows for multiple variations of chest press like standing or seated chest flyes or press with single grip or chest press with a bar. Regarding unilateral exercises, the standing single-arm chest on the kPulley is probably the most common.

Press movements enhance the use of the core muscles to stabilize the body throughout the exercise making it even more functional than regular isolated chest exercises. In golf, for example, the functional and unilateral cross-over in the standing chest press makes the movement more transferable and applicable for a real golf setting.
